What is a special Christmas gift? We often think of a gift as a material thing, but today, it is an answered prayer from God above.
Christmas is a time for miracles; yes, I know they happen all year long, but the celebration of our Lord and Savior adds a note of sparkle to a very special day, Christmas.
I was going to write about what Christmas is when this poem about a special Christmas gift of an answered prayer poured out of me onto my screen. It just tumbled and rolled until it landed in the perfect spot right here.
A Special Christmas Gift
By Laura Fuller
A Special Christmas Gift
the world divine
love and joy
in our hearts
This year I will ask
for an answered prayer
I want a present
so precious and bold
one only granted by
the Mighty on high
A gift so special
only He can grant
What thoughts travel
and fly on the wind
when we speak of
a gift, so special and rare
For each and one
it seems to be different
for one it is health
for the other it is peace
Yet for another so vast
the mind cannot grasp
the depth of pain
one special gift
What is it you want?
I shall petition, The Father
on your behalf
to send down angels
to grant your desire
But remember my friend
an unanswered prayer
be the most precious of all
You see God answers my prayers
rest assured this day
When I ask
and kneel before Him
the answer you get
is the Christmas gift
He desires for you.
Do not doubt
no fretting or fear
for your special gift this year
is the perfect answered prayer
Miracles of Christmas
Christmas miracles are all around, especially at Christmas time. I believe we can see miracles all year long, but we seem to have a more open heart when it is Christmas. There is more joy in the world, and we are receptive to more magic in the air therefore, we often feel answered prayer is more abundant.
After all, we are celebrating a miracle in the birth of Jesus Christ. He was conceived miraculously as a descendent of our Father God. What greater miracle could there be to this day? Celebrating such a tremendous miracle gives each of us a more open eye to what is around us.
Christmas Answered Prayer
Is a prayer answered more at Christmas than at other times of the year? I believe God will answer all prayers at all times of the year.
It is spoken in the word:
14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.
So, you see that God says he hears us pray all times of the year, and whatever we ask, we knows without a doubt that he will grant it.
Now I can expand on this by saying there is also a scripture that says we need to pray in the will of God, but that is not what this post is about today. So, we will have to cover this another time—all of the scripture ties into another part to get the whole meaning.
You Ask, How Do I know God Answers My Prayers?
In my poem above, I said that God answers my prayers, so I know he hears it when I pray for you. Again, his word states that when we come to him a certain way, he will listen to and show us the answered prayer in our lives.
So, when I stand on faith that God’s word is true I know that he answers my prayers.
24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. 25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”
There you have it all summed up and wrapped in a pretty package. God answers my prayers!
What About An Unanswered Prayer?
Now, this sounds like a disclaimer to me. So, God hears my prayers and answers them, but if you don’t see an answer, this is the reason. Well, it’s not like that, not to mention that is not the kind of unanswered prayer I am talking about here.
An unanswered prayer may simply be that we are looking in all the wrong places for the answer. Our minds conjure up what we think is the answer then we go to God in prayer, expecting him to see it our way.
It is NOT going to happen! God is omnipotent and omnipresent, which means he sees our whole life better than we do. He even sees our future. So if he gave us the answer we want, it might turn into a disastrous situation.
But on the other hand, since he can see into our future, he will give us the answer we need to complete our whole life. And again, we may need to wait for the answer because if he intervenes at the wrong time, it won’t be a miracle, so to speak.
So when we ask but do not see an answer, it may be because it is in a different place or time in our lives. God sees the big picture, not the narrow-minded view only we as humans see.
Today just four days before Christmas, I give you my poem and a prayer for a special gift to come your way. Please post in the comments if you have a prayer need, and I am happy to pray for your needs. Not just today and around the Christmas spirit, but my offer stands for every day of the year.
It’s not that my prayers are better than another, but rather when I stand before God, I ask for forgiveness that he may hear my prayers, and I pray with the faith that God will answer.
Merry Christmas to all, and may God bless you richly at this Christmas time and all year long.
