Covered In The Blood Of Jesus – What Does It Mean?

Some have heard the term “covered in the blood of Jesus,” yet so many have not. Of those who know these words, many of them don’t understand. I can relate to this, but recently, God spoke to my spirit and gave me a way to break it down. This breakdown is what I will share with you today.

I am writing this article today to reach those who are unsaved and saved alike and those who do not feel worthy of the Blood Of Jesus. Seeing it through the of a believer who is a sinner may help others see the true impact of “covered in the blood of Jesus.”

Today is Easter, the day of bunnies and Jesus. Some will want to talk about whether we should celebrate the resurrection with bunnies, but that is a story for another day. It is also the day of Jesus’s resurrection and how so many came to understand the saving power of Jesus. My experience with being covered in the Blood Of Jesus is a small piece of the pie I will share with you today.

What Does ‘Covered by The Blood of Jesus’ Really Mean?

I will start at the beginning because some know what covered in the blood of Jesus means. But some do not, and if you don’t, then let me explain.

If you are born again, then you are covered in the blood of Jesus. You are forgiven and cleansed from your sins; therefore, you are no longer condemned. Now you are free to live a new life.

Your freedom takes place when you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. He died on the cross for your sins, and his body was taken down and placed in a tomb. Three days later, his body rose from the dead. He lives forever!

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

John 3:16

Many people say they believe in Jesus, but they don’t really understand what it means to be “Covered In The Blood of Jesus.”

What It Means To Me To Be Covered In The Blood Of Jesus

Okay, so here is where we will take this article to a whole different level. We have to think outside the box and break it down to apply it to our lives.

How is this statement personally applied to my life? In other words, how can I clearly see what the resurrection has done to change me and picture how I am covered in the blood of Jesus?

For one, I see myself fully and wholly covered in a crimson red and glorious cloak. There is no part of my life or physical body that is not clothed in this cloak. With this image in mind, I have to see myself as the person I am today.

“Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin.”

Psalm 85:2

Even covered in the blood and forgiven of my sins, I am still a sinner. We are all sinners, and no one sin is better or worse than the next. I know this is hard to understand because if I tell a white lie, I am sinning the same as someone who has committed murder. The point here is God forgives all, and he loves each one of us the same, no more and no less.

Let’s look at how Jesus forgave me in hopes that you can apply it to your life also, but in ways that fit for you.

How Has The Blood Changed Me Now And In The Future?

With this in mind, let’s look at a list of ways being covered in the Blood Of Jesus has made a difference.

  • It has taken away the power of Satan – he can no longer take control of my life.
  • With the indwelling of The Holy Spirit – God can guide me and speak to me.
  • I am protected – By the Holy Spirit, which is a part of the crimson cloak. God says the battle is his and not mine. So any trials I face, God will fight them for me.
  • There is hope for my future with the belief that heaven awaits me after death.
    • The gates of heaven will be open for me to enter with a table set before me with all the foods I can’t eat today, like gluten and ice cream.
    • Again, I will see my family in heaven, where we will leave behind unforgiveness and hatred.
    • I will lay prostrate before my Lord and Savior in worship and thanksgiving.
    • I will leave behind fear and pain to enter the gates full of eternal peace.
    • I will be whole again.

Although these are only a few ways God is changing my life, I want to use them to give you a message. These are examples of where I apply the hope of God’s promises through being covered in the Blood Of Jesus.

Is It Hard To Believe That I Can Have The Promises?

Sometimes, it’s hard, and other times, I accept it with ease. I am sure many of you can relate to these words. When Satan is tapping me on the shoulder and whispering how unworthy I am, it is much harder to accept the Grace Of God. But when I receive His (God’s) strength, my walk is easy.

So yes, at times, it is hard to believe that I am a chosen child of God and accept what he is giving me, such as:

  • Peace in the midst of trouble,
  • Strength despite my weakness
  • The hope of healing from mental and physical illness
  • Mercy, even when I know I don’t deserve it
  • Forgiveness of ALL of my sins and the help to forgive others
  • Protection from the evil that infects this world
  • Hope for a better tomorrow
  • Plans for my life that are arranged by a God that is all-knowing,
  • Provides food for my table and my soul,
  • Wisdom and discernment that surpasses all earthly knowledge

The key here is I can choose to accept what God has for me and be covered in the Blood Of Jesus, or I can reject it. So often, I try to take my life into my own hands and not turn it over to God. When I give all things to God, he will take care of them. But we are all human and struggle with this concept.

The Word Of God says all of these are true and belong to me if I choose to accept them.

And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

2 Corinthians 9:8

What Are Covered In The Blood Of Jesus Promises God Has For US?

“But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. 18 For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. 19 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.”

1 Corinthians 15:17-19

The promises of God are not only for believers but for everyone. There are millions of people waiting to go home to their heavenly Father. Yet, while we wait, we also need a way to apply the promise to our daily lives. To relate our lives to the word of God and how it is faithful to carry us through to the final day.

We also live in a day of increasing unrest where Satan is unleashing his army on the world. When we are covered in the blood of Jesus, the Grace Of God will protect us. But Satan still wants our soul. In other words, even in faith, we will still have hard times, but God will protect us. A way to apply the blood to our lives is to picture ourselves covered In The Blood Of Jesus. Being wrapped in his cloak is like sitting on the Father’s lap. God will never hurt us, he only wants what is good for each one of us.

Now, will you have hard times? Yes, he doesn’t promise a rose garden but he does promise salvation and being covered in the Blood Of Jesus.

Applying Covered In The Blood Of Jesus To Your Life

First, my prayer for you is: Holy Spirit, help each person take these written words and apply them to their life. Please help them see that it is only when we are covered in the Blood Of Jesus that we can apply all of your Word to our lives. I also pray that each person takes away from these words only what God has in his plan for them.

Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:38

Now, with this prayer set before our Father In Heaven, please think about how ‘Covered In The Blood Of Jesus’ can change your life. How do you relate to what God did to change you forever?

Conclusion

Jesus rose from the dead to forgive our sins so we can come before God cleansed and without sin. Covered in the Blood Of Jesus simply means you are saved. And to be saved, all you need to do is believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead and confess with your mouth. Once you accept Jesus, you have access to all of God’s promises in his written word.

But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,”[a] that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

Romans 10:8-10

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

John 14:6

To completely understand God’s sacrifice of Jesus and covered in the Blood of Jesus, we can break it all down and apply it to our daily lives. Some may understand the scripture well. Yet, for others, the simplicity of my example will ring home.

The Holy Spirit will guide us through the process; therefore, if you are saved, please allow him to work in you.

If you are not saved, then the process to receive all of the blessings God wants you to have is simple:

9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

Romans 10:9-10

When you follow this scripture, you are saved!

And finally, I leave you with this scripture. Stand on it and believe when you apply his promises to your life.

38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:38-39
