In The Perils Of Darkness I Cry Out To Jesus – It’s Not Fair

It’s not fair! It is not fair that I have been through so much in my life and others skate through. It’s not fair that I was born to a man who harmed me. Why me, why this life? In the perils of darkness, I cry out to Jesus; it’s not fair!

How many times have I heard that justice will come to those who wait? I have waited a lifetime to see justice served, and yet no punishment avails. How can any of us keep a positive mind and continue in the light of such unfairness?

I have witnessed so much pain in my life, and yes, there are times when I stray from the hand of God and forget that he is the answer. When things become so dark that I cannot see the light in my heart, that is when I cry out to Jesus.

I am no different than most of the people in this world. And right now, this all sounds so ominous, but for me, it isn’t the end of the road. Why? Because I know the blood of Jesus, and I have seen the angels of God.

Before some of you who read this start thinking that I am in a very dark place in my life, I want to let you know that I am doing well. As I listened to my music, I felt moved by the spirit of Jesus to share with the world how I have felt so many times in life. I am sure I am not alone, and many out there have felt just as I have.

We go back and forth in the blood of Jesus daily, weekly, and even minute by minute. We cry out to Jesus and then forget to listen to his reply.

I wrote this short poem to depict the pain and the turmoil of the constant battle we all go through—the ups and downs through the light of Jesus and the evil of darkness.

Battle For Our Soul

I glide on white wings of a dove
through the perils of night and the blisters of pain
I can feel the angel of darkness
I witness to the glory of light

The blackest of death has taken me
I reside in the devil’s snare
With a hand and the blood to carry me
To the clouds of glory day

It’s not fair I cry out to Jesus
My wretched heart explodes beating inside me
For the day when justice prevails
And the wicked are covered in the blood

It’s not mine to vindicate the affiliations of many
It is to the mercy of God and the blood of Jesus
To patience and prayer, I vow to give
My will, my life to the God above

These thoughts and feelings I have had in my life are not unique to only me. The world goes through these battles daily. What separates me from the world is the Word Of God and The Blood Of Jesus.

Cry Out To Jesus

Just as this verse says, when abiding in Jesus, we can do all things, but when we turn from him, he cannot help us. So in those times when we are relying on the blood of Jesus to cover us and staying in prayer and light, God hears our prayers. He guides our life and gives us strength.

John 15:5 ESV
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

Does this mean he is not with us if we are hurting or have strayed away from his heart? No, it is just the opposite. He is always with those who claim Jesus as their Lord and Savior. When we cannot feel his mercy or his guiding light, we are hiding in the darkness and will not allow the light to shine in our lives.

It’s Not Fair

When I stray from God are the times that I feel all alone and feel as if nothing is fair. Why haven’t I been vindicated for what has happened to me? God assures us that he will take care of everything if we wait upon him.

Proverbs 11:21 ESV
Be assured, an evil person will not go unpunished, but the offspring of the righteous will be delivered.

At times, we feel that we are not vindicated if we don’t see the punishment delivered to another here on earth. But in Proverbs, God gives us his word that the evil done will not go unpunished. And in Romans, Jesus tells us not to punish others but to leave it up to God, for he is the one who will take care of everything.

Romans 12:17-19 ESV
Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”

It’s A Battle

Jesus tells us that we will be affected by evil. Bad things do happen to God’s people because we live in a world in a constant battle between good and evil.

2 Corinthians 4:8 ESV
We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair;

What is the answer, and why do we so often feel it’s not fair? And why don’t we cry out to Jesus instead of relying on our own ways?

Proverbs 3:5–6:
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.“In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

The answer is in Proverbs. We tend to stray from God when times are good and run back to him when times are hard. When we fall from God’s grace, we often forget to cry out to Jesus. We try to lean on our own understanding and ways of dealing with life. Then we start wondering why and for what reasons things have happened to us.

God has covered his people in the blood of Jesus. Jesus gave his life so we may live. This verse refers to going to heaven, but here on earth, we can use the word of God and the power of Jesus to have peace.

When I have been far from the Lord, I have said it’s not fair and wanted to take vengeance for myself. But when I am close to God and talking to Jesus is when I rely on the word and the blood to take care of it for me.

Just because I do not see justice here on earth does not mean it will not take place. God has promised that to me. I may never see justice served before my life is over.

Forgivenesss

I have endured much pain and seen so many lives affected by evil, but it is not my place to correct the wrong. It is, however, my place to pray for the unrighteous and forgive the afflictions.

Matthew 6:15 ESV
But if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

When I forgive, Jesus can carry my prayers to God, and I, too, am forgiven.

Mark 11:25 ESV
And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”

Salvation

Cry Out To Jesus pin

There is a verse in the bible that covers every part of our lives. God has given us instructions on how to act and react. It is our place to stay close to Jesus so we can feel the guiding hand of the Spirit. God loves us and cares for us. And when we confess with our mouths and believe that Jesus is the Son of God, then God is merciful to forgive us and cover us in the blood of Jesus.

Romans 10:9-10
That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

I leave you this day with the above scripture from Romans. And during the hard times, I cry out to Jesus and not lean on my ways to deal with life.
