Inspirational Poems About Life fightning cancer

Life

Life is what we make of it. Life is all that we want it to be. Life is precious.

By Mother Teresa

Life

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is bliss, taste it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it.

Inspirational Poems About Life never give up

The Don’t Quit Poem

The words of this poem say never to give up. An inspirational piece that will speak to us all in our times of struggle.

By Unknown

The Don’t Quit Poem

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit!

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure has turned about,
When they might have won had they stuck it out.
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow!
Often the goal is nearer than it seems to a faint and faltering one,
Often the struggler has given up
When they might have captured the victor’s cup.
And they learned too late, when the night slipped down,
How close they were to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint to the clouds of doubt.
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far.
So stick to the task when you’re hardest hit,

Inspirational Poems About Life mindset

Thinking

Our mindset and our thoughts are what will make or break our path to success. What we think is what we are.

By Walter D. Wintle

Thinking

If you think you are beaten, you are,
If you think you dare not, you don’t,
If you’d like to win, but think you can’t,
It’s almost a “cinch” you won’t.
If you think you’ll lose, you’ve lost,
For out in the world you find
Success begins with a fellow’s will;
It’s all in the state of mind.

Full many a race is lost
Ere ever a step is run;
And many a coward fails
Ere ever his work’s begun.
Think big and your deeds will grow,
Think small and you’ll fall behind,
Think that you can and you will;
It’s all in the state of mind.

If you think you’re outclassed, you are,
You’ve got to think high to rise,
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.
Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But sooner or later, the man who wins,
Is the fellow who thinks he can.

Inspirational Poems About Life big tree

Deep Roots

We can all model ourselves after the strong, tall tree that has burrowed its roots deep into the earth. Stand tall and strong in life.

By Laura Fuller

Deep Roots

I wanna be a tree
to stand 300 years
I wanna dig my roots
deep into the earth
to be tall and strong to
weather the storms of time
Harsh winds to blow
and purge my soul
Sunshine seeps in
new light glows on me
Elements of change
gouge my soul
scars live on as proof
of the core strength within
forcing me to stand
Tall and
Strong and
Steadfast
As the waters of life
flow over me
Prepare me
Grace me
Love me
To face the world ahead

Inspirational Poems About Life best you can

Be the Best whatever You Are

Strive to be the best in all things, so matter how big or small. Each person is important in our intricate world. Each person is a part of the puzzle of life.

By Douglas Malloch

Be the Best whatever You Are

If you can’t be a pine on the top of the hill
be a scrub in the valley- but be the best little scrub
by the side of the rill;

Be a bush if you can’t be a tree.
If you can’t be a bush be a bit of the grass,
and some highway some happier make;
if you can’t be a muskie then just be a bass-
but the liveliest bass in the lake!

We can’t all be captains, we’ve got to be crew,
there’s something for all of us here.
There’s big work to do and there’s lesser to do,
and the task we must do is the near.

If you can’t be a highway then just be a trail,
if you can’t be the sun be a star;
it isn’t by size that you win or you fail-
Be the best of whatever you are!

love yourself in sand

The Invitation

The Invitation is a long poem but too powerful not to include in inspirational poems about life. It’s not who we are on the surface but who we are deep inside. Love yourself, and you will find peace.

By Oriah Mountain Dreamer taken from her book “The Invitation.”

The Invitation

It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living.
I want to know what you ache for
and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing.

It doesn’t interest me how old you are.
I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool
for love
for your dream
for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn’t interest me what planets are squaring your moon…
I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow
if you have been opened by life’s betrayals
or have become shriveled and closed
from fear of further pain.

I want to know if you can sit with pain
mine or your own
without moving to hide it
or fade it
or fix it.

I want to know if you can be with joy
mine or your own
if you can dance with wildness
and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes
without cautioning us
to be careful
to be realistic
to remember the limitations of being human.

It doesn’t interest me if the story you are telling me
is true.
I want to know if you can
disappoint another
to be true to yourself.
If you can bear the accusation of betrayal
and not betray your own soul.
If you can be faithless
and therefore trustworthy.

I want to know if you can see Beauty
even when it is not pretty
every day.
And if you can source your own life
from its presence.

I want to know if you can live with failure
yours and mine
and still stand at the edge of the lake
and shout to the silver of the full moon,
“Yes.”

It doesn’t interest me
to know where you live or how much money you have.
I want to know if you can get up
after the night of grief and despair
weary and bruised to the bone
and do what needs to be done
to feed the children.

It doesn’t interest me who you know
or how you came to be here.
I want to know if you will stand
in the center of the fire
with me
and not shrink back.

It doesn’t interest me where or what or with whom
you have studied.
I want to know what sustains you
from the inside
when all else falls away.

I want to know if you can be alone
with yourself
and if you truly like the company you keep
in the empty moments.

fork in a dirt road

Road Less Chosen

Some of us have had things happen that we did not choose. The road that is the lesser of two was chosen for us from birth. But we can all set our sights on a chosen road with forgiveness and love as we grow.

By Laura Fuller

Road Less Chosen

I began life so many years ago
as a babe no worries no cares
I grew in mind and body yet fell back
the fork of life a different road
the choice not mine

I was a babe so many years ago
but no longer so
as I grew, I felt the threat
of the road less chosen
and memories I hated
emotions boiled over, my sight blinded
for the road less chosen had a hold on me

I was a babe so many years ago
but no longer so
as time surrounded me
I looked to the fork of a path chosen
and felt the healing power of years past
of forgiveness and love

I was given life so many years ago
a babe I was
but no longer so
I have grown older and wiser
and look to my chosen path
to feel the beauty of my world

I was given life so many years ago
I made choices for healing
and choices to live
new memories to clear my mind
the forked road less chosen has faded
I now walk in the grace of a chosen path

What You Can Control

We can control how we act and react to the struggles in life. How many times will we get back up and keep moving forward, and how will we view the challenges we go through.

By Caleb LP Gunner

What You Can Control

Your Beliefs
Your attitude
Your thoughts
Your perspective
How honest you are
Who your friends are
What books you read
How often you exercise
The type of food you eat
How many risks you take
How you interpret the situation
How kind you are to others
How kind you are to yourself
How often you say “I love you.”
How often you say “thank you.”
How you express your feelings
Whether or not you ask for help
How often you practice gratitude
How many times you smile today
The amount of effort you put forth
How you spend / invest your money
How much time you spend worrying
How often you think about your past
Whether or not you judge other people
Whether or not you try again after a setback
How much you appreciate the things you have

My Personal Quest

Change and growth are continual things in life. But the most important part is to always be who we are and not try to be or compare ourselves to someone else.

By Patricia A. Fleming

My Personal Questy

For most of my life, I’ve been on a quest
To discover just who I might be,
Earnestly searching, day after day,
So desperate to recognize me.

I’ve felt moments of utter fulfillment
And moments I couldn’t go on,
But I knew for the sake of my heart and my soul,
To succeed, I would have to be strong.

But the people around me seemed so lost themselves
That I feared I might be on my own.
But then there’d be someone who would reach out and help
And remind me I wasn’t alone.

I’ve wanted so much to be happy,
To know what it was to feel peace,
And I thought if I finally felt sure of myself,
Then the pain and the struggles would cease.

But I’ve learned that this journey is endless;
The discoveries are fresh every day,
And no matter how much I might know of myself,
They’ll be times I will still lose my way.

And as I’ve grown older, I truly believe
I may never know all I can be.
But the answers are not waiting out in the world
But have always laid right inside me.

We’re all on this quest to discover ourselves,
Together but through our own ways,
Overcoming whatever might get in our paths,
So we can feel better someday.

But always remember not to stray far
From what matters and what’s really true.
In this life you don’t have to be perfect.
In the end, you just have to be you.

You Will Never See Me Fall

Others don’t want to see the struggles that people go through. Joyce gives us the courage to stand tall and fake it till we make it.

By Joyce Alcantara

You Will Never See Me Fall

You may see me struggle,
but you won’t see me fall.
Regardless if I’m weak or not,
I’m going to stand tall.
Everyone says life is easy,
but truly living it is not.
Times get hard,
people struggle
and constantly get put on the spot.
I’m going to wear the biggest smile,
even though I want to cry.
I’m going to fight to live,
even though I’m destined to die.
And even though it’s hard
and I may struggle through it all,
you may see me struggle…
but you will NEVER see me fall.
