Life can be tough at times. In the good and the hard times, our well-being depends on our mindset and our beliefs. Is it all sunshine or snow? Is it warm in your world, or is it cold and dreary? How can you find light in your life?
When things are going the way you want, and life is smooth, it is easy to see the sunshine, but when it feels cold and bitter, there is very little light to guide your way. Or is there? Is there a promise of better days ahead?
I have put together 2 comparisons here of a girl to bring home how it must feel when the sun is shining in your life and how cold and bleak it feels when times are hard.
Comparison Sunshine Or Snow
Sunshine
WOW, it’s spring, your windows are open, and the birds are singing. You roll over and anticipate just how glorious this day will be. You stretch and climb out of bed. Out of your bathroom window, you can see the hummingbirds floating to the beauty of this day. It is indeed a great day to be alive.
You know you are blessed when you take off down the sidewalk and head to work, and remember how much the boss appreciates you. You even got a promotion with a hefty pay raise. You have been eying that leather couch at the store down the street. Now you can get it and impress all of your friends.
Snow
The sky is dark when you wake up. A big snowstorm is coming your way. It is Oh so freezing outside, and this is turning out to be a harsh winter. You roll over and tuck those blankets around you. It is nearly impossible to climb out of bed to go to work.
When you finally get out of bed, you run for the thermostat, crank it up, and then put on your warmest robe. It is impossible to stay warm inside your tiny apartment. It feels like the wind is coming right through the walls.
You finally get in the shower. A hot shower is probably the only good thing about this day. When you are finished and have consumed your third cup of hot coffee, you are already running late for work.
You head out dredging down the sidewalk dressed in all of your winter garb. As you half walk, half run to work, you remember you will be laid off at the end of the month. Only two more weeks left on your paycheck. How will you pay the rent and buy Christmas this year?
Everything looks so dark without hope.
How Can You Find Light In Your Life?
Both of these girls are the same age and have the same ethnic background. One is happy, and one is desperate. Life can be smooth or rough. It is full of ups and downs. One minute you feel blessed and the next you feel like God has left you.
The Word
But God will never leave you. You can turn to him in hard times and your sunshine days. You can find light in your life with the saving grace of GOD. I will share some scripture with you here. He is faithful to carry you and pull you through.
God says to you in his word that we are not to fear when times get hard. He is your light, and in him, you will find the light.
Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
He is clear when he says he is always with you. He says he goes before you so he is your guiding light.
Deuteronomy 31:8 The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
He sacrificed his only son so you may have light and peace. He did this so you may have the Lord God with you and within you at all times. God gave you his light, his son, Jesus, to save you so that in Him you will find peace.
Romans 8:32 He who did not keep back his only Son, but gave him up for us all, will he not with him freely give us all things?
In good times you feel blessed, and in hard times you feel forsaken. There are times when you will not feel his blessings but know you are always cared for when you are in the hands of the Lord. And know that he is the light to guide you. He is your create the same one who created the light of heaven and earth also created the light in you.
Psalm 115:15 May you be blessed by the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
Remember that when times seem the darkest, there is always sun to brighten your day. He is your light, and in him, you can find the light in your life. It is the Son of Our Lord, Jesus Christ. The only begotten Son sent to earth for you in times that look dreary and cold.
Romans 10:9 If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
God is on your side in good and bad times. He has a plan for you and will be faithful to carry it through to the end. He is here to help you find your light in the darkness.
I always say it is not my place to bring people to the Lord. It is God’s place to draw you in. It is, however, my job to let you know that he is always here for you. He will never forsake you nor leave you. He is your guiding light in good and hard times.
